People seem to be fascinated with angels. They are mysterious. They seem to appear and disappear as quickly as they arrive. Billy Graham wrote a book entitled “Angels” and gave many stories of angelic activity around the world. We had a friend who believes absolutely that she was helped by angels when her car broke down very late at night out in the country. They got the engine working, insisted on following her home, only once she was in sight of her home, their car disappeared. The next morning the engine was dead and the car had to be towed in for repairs!

Coming closer to home, our nine year old grandson was out cycling recently with his parents riding behind him, when he lost control and was about to crash down an embankment. His parents were too far back to help but a cyclist came out of nowhere, came alongside him and held him up until he was able to stop. His parents arrived and went to thank the cyclist but he was gone without a trace!  Was that an angel?

It seems that angels do not appear in shining garb but in everyday clothes. The Scripture says “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” Then again it encourages us to entertain strangers because, “by doing so some people have entertained angels without knowing it.”  Angels are obviously closer than we think!
